Abdominoplasty
The operation of belly is performed in those cases when the skin of belly loosened and dropped markedly after childbirth or after big loss of weight. During the operation the skin on the belly is released in the extent from groins to ribs, the navel is released and the skin is pulled downwards and thus it is tightened. The excesses of skin will be removed and the navel will be placed again. The scar resulting from the reduction of belly skin is lower abdomen, usually hidden in knickers. A small scar is around the navel that is newly situated. The operation is performed in general anaesthesia and it lasts on average 2 hours.
Within the scope of pre-operative interview, the doctor will explain to the patient the issues of the operation, location and shape of scars, possible risks and complications and course of the post-operative period.
One or two weeks before the operation the patient will get the preoperative examination from her general practitioner or another doctor, which includes blood collection, EKG and assessment of the results by the doctor. This examination can be performed in our hospital in the morning on the day of the operation.
One week before the operation you will stop using drugs such as Acylpyrin, Aspro, Aspyrin and Mironal, which contain acetylsalicylic acid causing bleeding.
Take your personal belongings, ID cards, results of the preoperative examination, slippers, pyjamas or night dress, things for personal hygiene and to the hospital do not take any jewels, valuables and bigger sums of money to hospital, apart from the money to pay for the operation.
Hospitalisation usually lasts one day, if you are interested, you can use suites situated in the building for after-treatment. There you can stay with the people who accompany you. In the morning when you leave the hospital, arrange a lift home. At home prepare painkillers, such as Brufen, Ibalgin, Paralen etc.
Post-operative instructions, convalescence
On the 1st day after the operation the bandage will be replaced, the suction drains will be removed and the elastic trousers will be put on. The patient tries not to tense up the belly, the best way of walking is leaning slightly forward and she also avoids excessive movements of the belly. In case of no complications, the check is recommenced after two weeks. It is recommended to wear the elastic trousers for about 4 weeks. An offer of post-operative garment - Medimplant company. After two weeks it is possible to have a shower, the scars should be rubbed with common cream. The usual load of the belly is possible in one months, exercise earliest after 2 months.

General risks of the operation:

- Infection
- Slowing down of healing of the skin with wound secretion
- Bad compatibility of suture material
- Lung embolism – blood clot embolus in lungs as a result of changes in blood pressure and blood coagulability during and after the operation. For preventive purposes elastic stockings are used before the operation, the patient starts walking soon after the operation, sometimes drugs for blood coagulability correction are administered.

Risks connected with this operation:
The appearance and quality of scars cannot be determined as it depends mainly on the type of healing of every individual. If the result is not good, a corrective operation can be performed. You must not expose the operation scars to sun and radiation in solarium for 6 months. Aesthetic surgery is not an exact science and it is not possible to give 100 % guarantee or assurance as regards the treatment and result of the operation. The world statistics state 5-10 % complications for aesthetic operations.
